November Passenger Numbers Posted

I just posted the November passenger data. A total of 2746 passengers went through the gates of the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in November 2006. That brought the year to date passenger count to: 18,601 passengers; which excludes October’s Allegiant data and the December numbers.

It’s evident we have had a very successful year, since 20,000 passengers have used our great airport. Now it’s time for the airlines and the usa to see! It’s time for additional flights at YNG. Is it concerning the passenger loads for November were only 76%, yes it is. But Allegiant never left, and now have near 90% loads in February.

The only guarenteed way we keep Allegiant, and have a shot at more flights is by continuing to fly from the airport. We can bash our airport all we want, but it’s THE VALLEY’S RESPONSIBILITY to use Allegiant, not the airport’s. Their job is to market it and do everything in their power to fill flights.

Any chance of setting up a Q and A with Airport Director Steve Bowser to talk about airline service?

Does anyone know if the Miami Air flight (BSK570) in from Alexandria, LA last night was a new charter flight or was it hauling around a college sports team? The flight is headed to Hartford this morning.

Does anyone know how Mikee’s Restaurant is doing since Allegiant changed their flights to mornings?

I heard that Fort Wayne, Indiana is getting non-stop flights on Allegiant to Lost Wages and Tampa as well as to Orlando. At the very minimum, why can’t YNG get service to Vegas? There has to be more people within an hour drive of YNG then there is at Fort Wayne.

Great news for February. I just tried to book a flight to see how they are doing, and there are ZERO flights from Orlando to Youngstown, that is 3 sold out flights, and there are 2 flights sold out from Youngstown to Orlando!

    GREAT NEWS

Amazing that all of a sudden FWA gets the trifecta with Allegiant. Has the YNG airline task force dropped the ball again? Maybe it’s time to look at other part-time carriers or how about this idea……get ONE airline in here to start service say 3 times day to a hub where YNG people and their familees can CONNECT to Las Vegas or to maybe 200 other major cities that they might like to go to!! Wow…. how did I think this up all by myself……surely this has been tried before somewhere…..?????

Care to explain what the Boyd Group is all about?

The Boyd group helps communities that have lost air service or might have a need for addition service. Here is some info from their website:

Below are examples of the many communities and airports we’ve assisted in successfully upgrading air service.

Air Service Restoration - Latrobe, Pennsylvania

This community lost all air service in 2004, as a result of the pull-down of the US Airways hub at Pittsburgh. The Boyd Group analyzed the market and determined that this event could actually be an opportunity for recruiting better air service. Our traffic and revenue projections indicated strong potential traffic for the right carrier. The Boyd Group accomplished a successful Small Community Air Service grant application, and crafted a proposal using the funds to recruit Northwest Airlink service to Detroit. Result: Better air service accesLong-Term Air Service Development Blueprint - Akron/Canton Regional Airport

The Boyd Group completed a long-term strategic air service plan for this growing airport. The plan assisted the airport in re-positioning itself as an important part of the air service infrastructure of Northeast Ohio. Instead of competing with larger, nearby Cleveland, the strategy was changed to position the airport as a co-access point to the region. The document prepared by The Boyd Group has since evinced the interest of Southwest Airlines in examining potential service at Akron/Canton.
s than the market had with the prior, traditional service from US Airways.

We are then long overdue for something like the Boyd Group providing assistance to YNG. I know as a group we are unable to enlist their help, but definitely isn’t this something that the Port Authority need to be doing YESTERDAY!

When did Southwest start showing an interest in CAK? I remember back in 1994 they said that they would never serve Akron/Canton….
