This Tuesday, April 24, Skybus Airlines is set too announce their initial routes as they target May 20th as the day to kick-off operations. Skybus will be based at Port Columbus International Airport; and plans to have flights to Burbank, CA and Portsmouth, ME. A number of other destinations are expected to be announced on Tuesday.

Skybus plans to be the cheapest airline in the United States, with fares averaging between $20-$40 dollars one way, which does not include the taxes, which ironically may be more than the ticket itself. Skybus has 3 planes ready to fly, which are Airbus A-319 Aircraft’s. The carrier has a deal for a total of 165 leased A-319 aircraft, which should come to fruition in Late 2008.

Should be interesting to see if Youngstown is on that list. Of course, do not expect it. I plan on covering this airline a great deal this week, and already have a few people lined up for some emails re: Skybus and YNG.

The WRPA and YNG should be all over Skybus trying to get service here. As the creator of this BLOG, you should be the manager of YNG and I bet we would get things moving……

    Good news and bad news…

Bad News…Youngstown isnt on the list. In fact, C-Bus is the only Ohio City on the list.

Good News: Columbus to LA for 40? And with an interesting mix of Large and small markets, Youngstown could be a possibility in the future- pending the brass market the airport correctly.
