YNG Continues to Miss Opportunities

The folks running the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport continue to fail on chances to get additional passengers; especially the ones that they want; and those would be families. This past week I watched the sold out debut of the af2 Mahoning Valley Thunder on Fox 17/62 after the game; a game in which 6000 people packed the Chevy Centre in Downtown. While enjoying myself, seeing downtown the way we all would love to envision it in the coming years, I came across an advertisement very disturbing to my eyes.
This dasher-board ad was for the AKRON-CANTON AIRPORT. How pathetic is that on YNG’S part to have a competing airport advertise in the brand new arena in town with the brand new arena football team in town! It doesn’t end there, as previously stated on this blog, CAK has begun morning forecast segments on NBC 21 and ABC 33 here in Youngstown! They literally list all the nonstop cities for CAK and promote those cities and why it’s better to fly from CAK!
FOLKS, we can’t blame the folks at the Chevy Centre, WFMJ, or WYTV for taking CAK’S money; but we can blame the jokes up at YNG for not asking the port for money to advertise at these places… SHAME ON YNG FOR FAILING ONCE AGAIN! I’ve had it with these people; they don’t think outside the box and they continue to FAIL!

Oh man, that is a real crock. We can’t block the Akron Canton Airport from advertising but what does that tell you? If they are investing dollars here in the area, they know there is a large population base to tap into for flights. It is good on their part to do that. It is just a shame that the losers running our local airport aren’t as agressive. I am at a loss for words as to what these guys are or aren’t doing. People are not loyal today and will fly where then can for the best price even if it is CAK. I love that airport and use it when I can, but why can’t we have the same service or even part of that kind of service……. Two flights a week doesn’t make it an airport and not everyone wants to go to see Mickey Mouse.
I agree with both of you and am sick and tired of seeing ads for other airports on t.v. and the Vindy website but nothing about YNG!!! IT’S SICKENING, the lack of marketing……..
I also love CAK and know our airport can be as good or better if the port would get off their asses and do something about it OR maybe we can have a campaign to get rid of them and get new ones in
I recommend strongly that you confront them at their board meeting which is open to the public. Remember you have a right to be there and you have a right to ask questions.
