No Chat; SCASD could be announced anyday

No chat this week. It is too hard for me and others to take an hour or 90 minutes out of our nights to come and chat about the airport each and every week. I am going to push for the chat’s to be every 2 weeks and I will try to have Steve Bowser and perhaps a special guest join us to discuss the airport.

The SCASD grants could be announced around Wednesday-Thursday-or Friday this week according to Robert Boyd of AviationPlanning.com. The IRAQ WAR timetable information or what have you is going to be the major topic for stuff in DC, so the end of the week seems like a logical time for the DOT to announce the results. Just a reminder, YNG requested $800k for a legacy carrier to fly business flights to Chicago or Charlotte or Atlanta.

Any ideas as to which airlines would be pursued? Do you know the results of the survey that went around to local businesses regarding which city they would like to see served from YNG? Based on the last sentence of your post where you stated that Chicago, Charlotte, or Atlanta flights would be pursued, I would guess that means they are most interested in United, US Airways, or Delta.

    From Boyd:

“The DOT has advised that determinations regarding grants will track with last year’s schedule. So plan on around 15 August.”

Karl, go back to aviationplanning.com and click the Hot Flash for this week. That SCASD page hasn’t been updated in month, the Hot Flash is a weekly column which has the most up to date info on the SCASD announcement.

They expect within the next 2 days this week.
