Breaking News: Marketing Director Hired at YNG

Some people are going to read the title and ask, “Why is this breaking news?” Well it’s such a hot story for this blog to hear that someone was actually hired as a marketing director to help in the airport’s efforts to entice airlines to come to YNG.
All I know is the Port Authority, at their monthly meeting, hired someone in a marketing role at YNG. I do NOT believe it is Vic Rubenstein. I can’t comment anymore on it until I find out more information. It is my hope that this position will be a Permanent one at the airport! We can really help this guy out with our ideas folks!
We will have more on this tomorrow as the papers spread the good news on the story! It is going to be our hope to now have Steve and the new marketing director in our chat next week to throw out some ideas; including the slogan this blog is pushing…. Fly with Convenience at YNG!

“Fly with Convenience at YNG!”
I like it!!!!!!
i don’t think that they hired any one yet. I think that they just agreed to fund the position. I do not think that they have a candidate in mind.
A lot of news about the airport in the Vindy today. How about Winner losing all that work to out of state firms because of the tax system.
That tax with Petrarca’s comment about the perception that they overcharge for work are both working against growth at YNG. I wonderr if he just meant that they are more expensive than everyone else or if he was foreshadowing the news about the tax.
Yes TS is right about someone NOT Being hired yet, just Bowser being asked to put the job together so they can hire someone probably within 3-5 weeks.

Can’t find the Vindy Link.
Anyone on this blog interested in applying?
The Vindy Link - The Story Behind The Story
“We’ve been negligent in not marketing the airport,” said Don Hanni Jr., a board member since the end of 2005.”
“When he asked Bowser whether anyone had specifically asked RTI about its airline needs in recent years, Bowser said no”

The very first word in the Tribune article says a lot as well. “Stung”.
I find it beyond amazing that the only motivation into action by the YNG administration was to be stung. If they had not been stung they would have continued to be content to collect a salary for delivering no air service benefits to the area.
“Thomas Petrarca, a port authority board member, said the airport never can expect to approach the success of the Akron-Canton Airport unless it abandons the excuse that it can’t afford to be proactive. It has to sell itself to the public and to the airlines, he said.”
Why didn’t the airport in its search for revenue reach out to Fedex when they were looking for property that might have generated some income to the operation? Where is the basic thinking here?
How do you sell yourself to the public if there is no communication between the airport and the public and your achievements equal zero?
Their own statements in both of these articles are of maximum embarrassment to the YNG administration. The local flyers should be livid. Livid that their tax dollars are paying individuals who should be fired and escorted off the property.
Karl - you are right. Too bad that no one will do anything about it. I hav e been pointing out the mistakes that these guys have been making for quite some time.
The problem with these guys and most Bureaucrats is that they would rather keep status quo instead of making a move for the better. Bowser is not what they need out there. He was only hired as the director five years ago because they had no budget to hire a replacement for Nolan so they settled on the book keeper to run the airport.
Too bad that they didn’t look any harder for a replacement, we may not be in as bad of shape as we are now!
Here is where Fedex ended up:
