WEATHERSFIELD — RTI International Metals has signed a 10-year deal to supply titanium components for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The deal, which was announced today, will produce a total of $900 million in revenue for the Weathersfield-based company, starting next year. The contract extends RTI’s role with the Dreamliner. Last year, RTI signed a five-year deal to provide structural floor parts for the plane. That contract called for RTI to be a subcontractor with Fuji Heavy Industries and Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

Here is yet another huge contract for RTI Titanium of Niles, the same RTI that is moving its Corp. HQ from Niles to Pittsburgh because there is a lack of Air Service here to major cities. A few years back RTI got a contract to supply titanium parts for the A-380, and now today we hear the news that RTI will make titanium parts for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner…. o ya wasn’t it like in 2001 that we actually tried to get that Boeing plant here??? and it still isn’t flying yet.. hmmm…

In other news:

-Allegiant is back flying twice a week to Orlando-Sanford from Youngstown. This time around flights are in the evening hours, with fliers getting to Orlando around 8:30pm at night.

-We haven’t heard from Steve Bowser in about 6 weeks. We hope this means the airport is in active talks with an airline and he has no time to talk; although we all know that is the furthest thing from the truth!

-We want to have a YNGAir Chat soon.. Post a comment with the best day of the week and time in the evening it would be best for you. We can try to make it accessible for everyone!

-Finally with my beloved Indians ending and the YSU Football season coming to a close, I will begin to post more on the blog. Like last year, this time of the year is hectic with me and maintaining my other sites. I encourage you to Check Out and Join my Youngstown State Fan Site: GuinZone.com Today!
