Interesting News from February Port Meeting…

Well I just got ahold of the February Board Minutes, and I got some good news to post! Here is a Link to the Minutes: CLICK HERE.
Airport AD Steve Bowser attended the 2008 Allegiant Air Airport Conference, 50 current airports and 50 more which hope to get Allegiant’s service were in attendance. Bowser got this news: The load factors and yields are up. Allegiant has scheduled more flights into August compared to last year. Chairman Masternick asked if YNG’s load factor met or exceeded Allegiant’s expectations. Mr. Bowser noted that YNG has exceeded Allegiant’s load factors by nearly 10%. It was noted that the load factors for Allegiant would be instrumental in enticing new airlines to YNG.
This is great news to here, because Allegiant Air not only just purchased 6 new jets, but they are looking at expanding to new routes in the coming weeks, let’s cross our fingers YNG gets additional flights!
What I also found out is that YNG has hired the Sixel Consulting Group to help in attracting an airline. The selling point about Sixel is that they will defer all fee’s until the airport/Sixel are successful in enticing an airline to Youngstown!
This is positive news for the airport for the year of 2008. We just received a grant worth nearly $1 million dollars. Stay tuned to our blog for the latest info!

The six aircraft come from Finn Air; and, probably will not see service untill 2009. They have to be standardized to Allegiants fleet as well as becomming U.S. registered.
With US Airways cutting capcity in PIT and CLE, this should provide the ability for fare increases and bring the yields up to where they need to be.
I betting on PIE in 2009.
Interesting for you to say that CRJ, I’m surprised you feel we may actually gain service come 2009 with Allegiant; judging by past conversations it would’ve seemed that was unlikely; not that I am complaining.
Hopefully you are right. Perhaps something could be done to advertise $69 on a few seats and then the next price level is higher than normal.
Let’s face it, YNG doesn’t advertise Allegiant all that well, if they did, I’m sure they could charge fares a bit higher.
I just stumbled across your blog. Kudos to you for doing such a great job. I live in Pittsburgh, but have relatives in Niles, Poland and New Castle, so I like to kkep up on what’s happening in that area.
Please keep it up.
